All cats who are TNR'd MUST have a caretaker, a person who continues caring for them providing food, water and shelter daily. This is a requirement as cats are protected under the Animal Cruelty Statute and to simply release them without a caretaker constitutes abandonment and a violation of the Statute.

SPAY/NEUTER FOR 9+ CATS For areas with a large (9+) number of cats, call SNAP and ask for financial grant forms (one per cat). When you receive the forms, fill them out and return to SNAP. Once the grant money comes in, you will get form(s) in the mail. Contact Keystone Mobile--phone on back of form--to come to your location to fix the cats. Arrange for use of traps. In Lancaster, contact the Humane League to schedule use of their mobile unit.

Note: If no traps are available in the area, the caller can rent traps for $1.00/day at The Feed Store on Old Jonestown Rd, phone 545-5314. If the caller has a large colony and intends to be trapping for some time, it may be wise to purchase traps. We recommend using a trap with a rear door, either a 30" or 36". Trap dividers, about $12, can be purchased if a cat needs to stay an extra day in the trap. We like Safeguard traps. Some sources:
