Ken's (and Barbie's) story is too sad for words! This poor boy was chained to a tree and had only a TRAVEL KENNEL for shelter ... and not only that, but the travel kennel was one with open slits so that wind and rain and snow could flow freely through it! He was freezing in his "crate" with not even straw or a blanket to keep him warm. Check out the pitiful pictures of Ken chained to that tree and that crate he had for shelter! He looks so sad and forlorn and fearful ... not knowing what to expect! Local shelter volunteers negotiated this sweet dog's surrender and he is now a Castaway Critter. He has never known love and affection and comfort. But we really feel Ken's life is about to change! Please help Ken know the luxuries of being a cherished pet! Please consider making him part of your family!!! Update 2/14/2013 - Ken is in foster and is learning how to be a pet. He absolutely LOVES a car ride and is a FABULOUS rider! He curls up in the back seat and never whines, cries or howls! The first comment the foster made upon greeting Ken was how soft his fur is! Despite his life of neglect, he is a beautiful boy! He is shy initially but wags his tail happily at any display / demonstration of affection! 2/21/13 - Ken has been to obedience training twice now and has ALREADY learned to sit, stay and "leave it" when a treat is put in front of him (he will "leave it" until he is told he may have it)! He is SOOO smart! It amazes me that this dog had been chained to a tree with only a plastic crate for protection! He is SUCH a wonderful dog! He is SO happy to be in a home with people, other dogs, good food, treats, love, affection, attention AND obedience training! Seriously ... talk about rags to riches already!?!?!?! And he hasn't even found his forever home yet ... but he is already experiencing things he never knew ... what a success story! Won't you be a part of Ken's success story and apply to give him a forever home??? $260.00 adoption donation includes microchipping!
