A schnoodle with so much love to give
Gretchen has just come into Castaways after being a stray in the York area. She was a very thin girl, but is gaining a healthier weight since she has been brought into a foster home. She has the poodle love of being with people. She follows me from room-to-room and lays on the couch or the bed to watch whatever I am doing. She is very good with her housetraining, and I am certain that she was in someone's house before. She was afraid of the other dogs in the foster house at first, but learned to trust them. She will act protective if a stranger comes in the house by barking, growling and making disgruntled talking noises. But she's very fond of people who are kind to her that she sees regularly, like my neighbor. She is jealous of other dogs getting petted, and has no qualms about inserting herself in the situation to gain the attention.
It is recommended that Gretchen go to a household with adults only or older children. She can get a little mouthy when she is playing and she doesn't use as soft a mouth as you would want with kids. It doesn't bother me as an adult (and certainly doesn't break the skin) but it might be frightening and a little rough for young kids. She is very interested in cats; but doesn't chase them or try to hurt them. I'm not sure how she would be with cats that are not dog-savvy (know not to run). She actually seems intimidated by them; but acts like she wants to play.
She seems so grateful to have a home and is eager to please. She just wants her own little spot in a house, so please consider her!
