July 21st: Hi Everyone! I've been very busy, so I'm sorry I didn't get to catch you up until now! I have been growing up quite a bit lately, or so my Foster Mom says. I listen very well to her commands. I still walk beautifully on my leash. Not so scared of anything anymore, just fearful of other dogs til I get to say hello. I love to inspect new things I haven't seen yet. I even go up and down steps all by myself now! I even take a nap by myself, though I love to cuddle with my foster brother if Mom is too busy. Everyone I meet say what a beautiful and sweet boy I am. One thing I do love to do is dig. But Mom is working very hard to catch me and stop me every time! She can be no fun sometimes. But, if she throws me a ball ~ I forget all about that hole I was working on. I am such a polite and polished little boy now. I even check out the crate too! I haven't had to stay in there yet.....but I am learning not to be afraid of it. I sure hope my forever home is reading all about me! I can't wait to spread my wings and really learn to love and trust my new family! Could that be you? I promise to be a very good boy!
July 12th: Hi again! I just wanted to let you know how far I have come my first week in my foster home. I have learned to sit for my meals and sit for the leash and I don't try to bolt out the door as soon as it's opened. I am NOT afraid of too many things anymore! I found when the leash comes to me, that means I can go outside and walk! I love to take walks, but I don't like long ones when it's hot outside. I like to be inside where it's cool. I finally made my Mom Laugh so hard when I got the zoomies! I ran around the house, out the doggy door and then back in and ran some more! She just laughed and laughed. When I finally stopped at her side, she gave me lots of cuddles. I do the zoomies about once a day......then I take a nap. It really wears me out when I run like that! I would love my new family to run with me.
I have settled down and am learning to trust. I don't get scared so quick anymore, 'cause I know my pack will protect me. I met some of my Mom's new friends this weekend and I was very patient in waiting for them to say hi. Of course, the other dogs weren't so nice! I think they liked me best cause I was very calm and loving. I even laid down beside them and fell asleep while they petted me.
My foster brother, Smiley, has become my best play buddy! I would love to find a forever home that has another playful doggy. I just love to play! It would be ok if they didn't have a doggy as long as they allowed me to have playdates with friends doggies. My foster sister who is a boxer scares me a little bit. I just don't know if she is punishing me or trying to play with me........so another doggy that I can read better would be great!
I sure hope I am letting you know what a great doggy my Foster Mom says I am. I am ALWAYS a good boy and will be a great friend to any quiet family. Loud people and a lot of activity scares me and I like to hide when it gets too much for me. So, I really would love a nice, quiet family to join. Give me a place in your home and I will give you my HEART & LOVE FOREVER!
July 7th: Hi Everyone! I am Fozzy! They call me Fozzy cause they say I have a soft and fuzzy face just like Fozzy Bear does. I am very happy to be in a home and not outside all the time. I love all the cuddles and attention! I have stopped trying to run away because I find I like it right where I am. It's not hot, there's a soft place to sleep and the other dogs are a lot of fun! I love to play chase and tag with them. I try to be very gentle by not biting or clawing when I want some lovin' ~ I just sit by your leg, leaning on you waiting for a love pat on my head or a scratch on the neck. I would sit there all day if you just touch me.
I went to work with my Foster Mom yesterday with one of the other dogs. It was great! We played and played, then we both slept all afternoon. I wish I could have a job where I could play and sleep all day! Oh wait, I am a dog~That's what I DO! LOL I did get into a little trouble last night......My Foster Mom took away the slipper I wanted to cuddle with to sleep. I think she thought I was gonna chew it up, but NOT ME!! I LOVE SHOES! I think I should have been a girl! LOL
I will tell you some things that scare me.........loud noises like yelling, banging or loud, big things. There is one thing that makes a terrible noise but it intriques me...........Foster Mom pushes it around on the floor and it snorts and sniffs really loud.......I watch it very close so it doesn't eat my pig ears! Nobody better steal my favorite pig ears!
Well, I am off to play again. I am sure I will have lots to tell you soon!
Foster Mom Notes: Red Heeler/hound mix. Fozzy is a sweet and gentle boy. Somewhat shy when he first meets people and dogs, but warms up easily. He is a snuggle bug! Just wants you to touch him and let him know you are right there. He is leash shy, apprehensive about entering from outside any door going in. He won't go in the car by himself, but will allow me to pick him up and put him in. He just lays down for the ride! He needs someone to help build his confidence. He needs a patient and gentle leader. He listens very well, as he is already learning the "leave it" command. He is treat driven, but not rambunxious. He has learned to work the doggy door and feels comfortable coming and going but not without one of the other dogs. He loves to chase balls and run in the yard. He does ok in the crate with a chew toy but gets lonely after a while. Has only barked once so far and that was to get one of the other dogs to play. Very quiet bark, not offensive at all. He plays gently and quietly. Very soft mouth. Doesn't nip or bite. Overall, a sweet boy!
Training so far: Sitting and waiting at the door, sitting for his meals, working on basics like sit, stay, down, down stay, wait and eventually halt. Will be biking tandum with him in a few days and will post his abilities. Will work towards crate training in a few weeks if he isn't snatched up before then! He is a great, wonderful dog! The epitome of DOG!
